Melting ice

We work out, we try hard, we get distracted, we give up before we reach the point of positive change.

Sound familiar? It’s a vicious cycle and we need to be aware of, lest we stay trapped in it.

I was reading a book, Atomic Habits by James Clear, and there was a really cool metaphor for what we go through when trying to improve ourselves. It was about an ice cube (not the rapper but the solid state of water ;)

At zero degrees, water is frozen. 1 degree warmer it is still a frozen. Another degree, still frozen.

30 degrees warmer and STILL FROZEN!

Not until you pass 32 degrees will the ice BEGIN to melt.

32 degrees is where water begins to change. Have you given yourself 32 attempts before feeling like your expectations haven’t been met? Has instant gratification infiltrated and deluded your physical, mental, and emotional well-being? Are you tired of starting goals with positivity and motivation only to give up because things didn’t change fast enough?

“Be like water” - Bruce Lee

Challenge: Commit, motivate and BELIEVE you can change for the better. Join a Tae Ryong Taekwondo class for just a month. 30 days! (I’ll even throw in an extra 2 to go along with our metaphor). Don’t cut yourself off from success before giving yourself enough time to “melt the ice”.
